Frequently Asked Questions

Hypnotherapy

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a guided, focused state of awareness that softens mental noise, clarifies inner experience, and helps you access your imagination, emotions, and inner resources more easily.

What does hypnosis feel like?

People describe it as a blend of deep relaxation, mental clarity, and gentle inward focus. Some feel very relaxed, others remain alert. Both are valid.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy can support:
• stress and overwhelm
• emotional patterns you want to shift
• chronic pain and somatic tension
• fears and phobias
• pregnancy and birth preparation
• perimenopause/menopause symptoms
• confidence, clarity, and major transitions
• sleep difficulties related to stress
• inner calm and self-connection
It complements medical and psychological care but does not replace them.

What does it feel like?

During a session, your mind may feel clearer, your breathing slower, and your body more at ease.
Some people experience a sense of warmth or lightness; others simply feel relaxed, focused, and deeply present.

After a session, people often report reduced stress, greater mental clarity, and a grounded, regulated state.
Some feel immediate shifts, while for others the changes continue to unfold gently over the following hours or days as the nervous system integrates the work.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. Some people work on a specific intention over 2–3 sessions; others choose a longer process for deeper transformation. There is no pressure and no fixed program.

SAFETY & CONTROL

Is hypnosis the same as losing control?

No. Hypnosis is a collaboration. You remain fully conscious and in control. Most people describe it as peaceful, clear, and grounding.

Can hypnosis work even if I have trouble relaxing?

Yes. You do not need to feel calm beforehand. Hypnosis simply guides the mind into a different state, even if you start the session tense or distracted.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?

Everyone can experience hypnosis, but not in the same way. Some people feel deeply relaxed; others stay alert. Both are correct. I adjust the style — verbal, emotional, visual, somatic, or logical — so the process fits you naturally.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Who should avoid hypnotherapy?

If you have schizophrenia or have experienced psychosis, hypnotherapy is not recommended outside a medical setting.

LAW 21 (QUÉBEC)

Is hypnotherapy like psychotherapy?

No. Hypnotherapy is not psychotherapy and does not replace psychological or medical care.

What are your professional boundaries under Loi 21?

I do not assess, diagnose, or treat mental-health disorders, and I do not perform any activities reserved for psychotherapists under Quebec’s Loi 21.
